BIRMINGHAM, Ala. The Alabama Public Health Department is monitoring dozens of people for coronavirus (COVID-19) who are self monitoring themselves at home after traveling and arriving back home from China in Alabama.
The health department monitoring started in early February and the monitoring follows guidance from the Centers for Disease Control.
“All who are being monitored for Coronavirus are not sick at this time and do not have symptoms so far , they are asymptomatic,” said Dr. Burnestine Taylor of the state health department.
Between 50 to 100 people who have traveled to Wuhan China Hubei province or mainland China are being monitored in locations throughout alabama
All those who are being monitored stay in self-isolation and maintain daily contact with the health department for 14 days.
The number of those being monitored in Alabama changes daily due to the numbers of Chinese returning from china as they must report to the department of health when they arrive from China
